Week # 9

20. I visited YouTube and took advantage of the massive number of videos. I watched a British rock music show from 1964. Ready, Steady, Go. They had the Beatles, the Animals, Gerry and the Pacemakers all performing before a live audience not three feet away from them. Similar to American Bandstand but not as polished. I listened to a performance of an old radio show, Our Miss Brooks. The specific program was broadcast in April of 1949. I can see how you could spend a lot of time with YouTube.
21. I explored the websites for locating podcasts, visited some of the more interesting looking sites and viewed some library podcast sites. I was really impressed with the Kankakee, Ill. podcast site because they podcast authors that have presented programs at the library. They're impressive list include Elizabeth Berg, & Lois Lowry. What a wonderful way to expose more people to the programs. I would like to see CCPL do something like this with author programs.
22. I have worked with overdrive and actually downloaded something. More and more customers are interested in using this service.
23. This has been a very horizon broadening experience. There are so many technologies that I wasn't aware of. I have been able to visit flickr,YouTube, Zoho Writer, create a blog add thoughts& pictures. Some of the sites visited I don't think I'll use again but there are so many that I will be using. I've been telling my children about the cool things that the 23 things have enabled me to try. I keep updating my blog and want to keep it beyond the work with the 23 things!

Week # 7 Wikis

16. I read the information regarding wikis and visited several of the library websites. Some did not look like the wikis I'm familiar with. I have posted meeting notes to the Umbrella Group wiki of CCPL so I have a slight knowledge of posting. I'm more adapt at reading the postings!
The wiki lists for the libraries I visited have a visual appeal for customers. Our wiki listing is more business-like and streamlined.

17. I tried to post something to the Learning 2.0 SandBox wiki but it was not available the day I tried. The next day I checked again and it was up but they were asking that posters be extra careful not to delete everything. So I decided to try later. Success!! After several tries I was able to enter my blog address on the Learning 2.0 Sandbox Wiki.

Week #8

#18 I tried Zoho writer and published some poems to my blog. Enjoy the selection of poetry by Ogden Nash.

#19 I checked out the Web 2.0 awards list and played a few games. I especially like Guess the Google in which you have to give the keyword that was used to get the corresponding google images. It takes some quick thinking and even quicker typing. I also did an online word search. Same as doing word searches on paper. Both were fun. There were a lot of other sites I just chose to explore the games site.

Week # 8 Zoho Writer

THE POETRY OF OGDEN NASH

FLEAS

Adam

Had'em

THE COW

The cow is of the bovine ilk;

One end is moo, the other, milk.

THE TURTLE

The turtle lives 'twixt plated decks

Which practically conceal its sex.

I think it clever of the turtle

In such a fix to be so fertile.
